| KHAG L | No. 117 - JANUARY 2019 | 13 BasicAstronomy Lecture andSky-watch Followed by the basic astronomy lecture by Sanjeev Dhurandhar (IUCAA) atAnnasahebAwate College, Manchar, onDecember 20, 2018, there was a sky-watching programme for the college students. Five hundred students attended this session, in which moon-watch and introduction to the constellations were the key demonstrations coordinated by the IUCAAoutreach personnel, Rupesh Labade, andNilesh Pokharkar. Science ToysDemonstration andSky-watch A full day workshop for science teachers of Marathi medium government schools was held at the Government School, Hinjawadi, Pune, onDecember 17, 2018. Thirty five teachers fromdifferent schools participated in theworkshop. In the first half, all the teachers were given material kits to make a few toys. The selected toys were related to the existing science curricula of classes 8, 9, and 10, which will be helpful for the teachers in the classroom. The second half of the workshop was dedicated to Astronomy in the Geography and Science curriculum. In this session, along with gravity and seasons, the newly introduced topics like life-cycle of stars were elaborated in simple manner to help in teachingAstronomy at school level.
