Seminars Sajal Mukherjee, who has joined IUCAA as a Post-doctoral Fellow in July 2019, has completed his Masters (2015), and PhD (2019), both from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata. His primary research interest includes the study of binary systems with extreme or intermediate mass ratio and their astrophysical implications. During his PhD, he studied the motion of extended objects with higher order multi-pole structure, which serves as an important tool to probe these binaries analytically. His works can be useful to understand what additional features these objects bring into various well-known results in particle phenomenology. Presently, he is working on gravitational waves from eccentric binaries and testing general relativitywith gravitational-wave astronomy.
